All our clinics are open – all fertility treatments are available

We are serving our customers also during COVID-19 pandemic

The safety of our customers and employees is our highest priority. We closely monitor the development of the Covid-19 pandemic in Finland and Europe, as well as the latest research data on the possible effects of Covid-19 infection on fertility and pregnancy. In accordance with the guidelines issued by Fimea and Valvira on March 24, 2020, as well as ESHRE’s recommendation, we stopped all fertility treatments at our clinics as a precaution.

According to the information gathered so far, Covid-19 is not particularly dangerous from the perspective of reproductive medicine. In light of the current knowledge, there is no evidence that the coronavirus is transmitted through sperm, eggs or embryos.* Experience so far suggests that pregnant women are not at higher risk of developing severe coronavirus infections than other women of the same age. In the light of current knowledge, there is also no evidence that coronavirus is a teratogen.** According to case reports published so far, there is no clear evidence that the infection is passed from mother to baby during pregnancy or childbirth. The virus has also not been detected in the amniotic fluid, umbilical cord blood samples, neonatal pharyngeal samples, genital fluid / vaginal flora or breast milk of pregnant women infected with Covid-19.*** In view of all these considerations, there is no medical reason to avoid becoming pregnant due to coronavirus.

Based on a new recommendation issued by ESHRE on 23.4.2020, a nationwide reduction in Covid-19 infections, planned risk management and infection prevention quidelines, we have decided to continue fertility treatments at Ovumia clinics following strict hygiene guidelines and special precautions. Through these actions, we aim to ensure the safety of our patients visiting our clinics and being treated by our professionals. Read more about our policies during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please also read our instructions for patients who come to the reception during the pandemic and the symptom questionnaire.
